Chat-in Legal Information

Our Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) helps explain our data practices, including the information we process in order to provide our Services.

For example, the Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how this affects you. It also describes the measures we take to protect your privacy, including designing our Services so that delivered messages are not stored by us and giving you control over who you communicate with using our Services.

This Privacy Policy applies to all our Services unless otherwise specified.

Please also read the Chat-in Terms of Service (“Terms”), which explain the conditions under which you use and we provide our Services.

Information We Collect

To operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, and support our Services, Chat-in must receive or collect some information. This includes when you install, use, or access our Services.

The types of information we receive and collect depend on how you use our Services. Certain information is required to provide our Services and we cannot deliver them to you without it. For example, to create an account to use our Services, you must provide your mobile phone number.

Our Services include optional features that require additional information if used. You will be notified if we collect such information. If you choose not to provide the information required for a feature, you cannot use that feature. For example, if you do not allow us to collect location data from your device, you cannot share your location with your contacts. Permissions can be managed in the Settings menu of Android and iOS devices.

Information You Provide

Account Information. To create a Chat-in account, you must provide your mobile phone number and basic information, including a preferred profile name. Without this, you cannot create an account. You may also add additional information such as a profile picture and details in the “Profile” section.

Your Messages. In the ordinary course of providing our Services, we do not retain your messages. Instead, your messages are stored on your device, not on our servers. Once delivered, they are deleted from our servers. In some cases, messages may be temporarily stored during delivery:

Undelivered Messages. If a message cannot be immediately delivered (e.g., if the recipient is offline), we store it encrypted on our servers for up to 60 days. After 60 days, undelivered messages are deleted. We offer end-to-end encryption, which means your messages are encrypted to prevent reading by us or third parties.

Your Contacts. Your phone number and the phone numbers of your contacts are stored in a way that is not identifiable to us. You may create, join, or be added to groups, which are associated with your account information. You may name your groups and optionally provide a group photo or description.

Customer Support and Other Communications. If you contact us for support or otherwise communicate with us, you may provide us with information related to your use of our Services, such as copies of your messages, additional helpful information, and how we can contact you (e.g., an email address).

Automatically Collected Information

Usage and Log Information. We collect information about your activity on our Services, like service-related, diagnostic, and performance information. This includes information about your activity (including how you use our Services, your Services settings, how you interact with others using our Services (including when you interact with a business), and the time, frequency, and duration of your activities and interactions), log files, and diagnostic, crash, website, and performance logs and reports. This also includes information about when you registered to use our Services; the features you use like our messaging, calling, Status, groups (including group name, group picture, group description), payments or business features; profile photo, "Profil" information; whether you are online, when you last used our Services (your "last seen"); and when you last updated your "Profil" information.

Device And Connection Information. We collect device-specific and connection information when you install, access, or use our Services. This includes your device model, operating system, battery level, signal strength, app version, browser, mobile network, language, time zone, and processing information.

Location Information. If you choose to use location-related features such as sharing your location or viewing nearby locations, we may collect precise location information with your permission. This is used only for the contacts you share with or on the device you view it from.

How We Use Information

We use the information we have to operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, support, and market our Services, subject to your choices and applicable laws:

Our Services. We use the information to support customer service, improve, fix, and customize our Services, and operate and provide them. We also use the data to understand usage, evaluate and improve our services, develop new features, and perform troubleshooting. We use your information to respond to you when you contact us.

Safety, Security, and Integrity. We use the data to verify accounts and activity, combat harmful behavior, protect users from bad experiences and spam, investigate violations of our Terms and policies, enhance safety and integrity on our Services and beyond, and ensure lawful use.

No Banner Ads. We do not allow advertising of any kind on our Services.

Sharing Information with Third Parties

As you use and communicate through our Services, you share your information only with intended recipients:

Information You Share with Contacts. You share your messages and other information with contacts you choose.

Information Linked to Your Account. Your phone number, profile name and photo, profile details, last seen status, and delivery receipts are visible to those you communicate with.

Your Contacts and Others. People you communicate with may store your information (such as your phone number or messages).

Third-Party Services. When you or others use third-party services integrated with our Services, such as iCloud or Google Account backups, these services may have access to the data you share with them (e.g., Chat-in messages). Interacting with linked third-party services (e.g., media players) may reveal your IP address and Chat-in usage status to them. Using third-party services is subject to their terms and privacy policies

Transfers, Changes of Control, and Legal Obligations

If our company is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, we will share your information with successor entities or new owners in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

Managing and Retaining Your Information

We retain your data for as long as necessary to provide our Services or for other legitimate purposes such as complying with legal obligations, enforcing our Terms, and protecting rights and users. Retention periods vary depending on the type of data, its use, and applicable legal and operational requirements.

To delete your data, you can:

Delete Your Chat-in Account. You may delete your account at any time through the in-app “Delete My Account” feature. Deletion removes undelivered messages and any data no longer required to operate our Services. This includes deleting account info, profile pictures, and message history. Deletion does not affect information other users may retain about you (e.g., messages you sent).

Law, Our Rights, and Protection

We may access, preserve, and share your information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to: (a) comply with applicable laws or government requests; (b) enforce our Terms and other policies; (c) detect, investigate, or prevent fraud, illegal activities, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, Chat-in, or others.
